Robert Richardson studied Communication Design at a faculty of art and design of a London polytechnic. For many years he was a lecturer at De Montfort University, Leicester, before working independently as a visual artist and writer. Robert works across different media: concrete poetry/text-based art, graphic art, photography, installations and video art. In recent years, he has been exploring digital tools on a daily basis and producing an ongoing portfolio of abstract artworks, ranging from constructivism and minimalism to the more expressive and psychedelic.

In London, in the late 1960s, he attended hippie light shows, which has a significant influence on some of his artworks: hypnotic and mesmerising, the artist uses digital technology to create psychedelic art. In addition to exhibiting in the UK, he has participated in solo exhibitions in Germany and Portugal. His works have also been part of a collective exhibition at the Australian National Gallery. His graphic works are exhibited in the collections of the British Museum, the British Library and the Australian National Gallery.
