Marjan created this commissioned piece for Davos World Economic Forum, World of Women and Code Green charity auction. Using figural ideas from her #GlitchGoddess, this animation embodies the Gaia Hypothesis that the Earth and its biological systems behave as a single entity. #GlitchGoddess was born in her viral Internet #arthack in 2018, and glitches existing art historic conventions of depicting the female form as singular, by switching from slender, heavy, pregnant, and stylized to abstract. Code Green’s wall of green in Africa is represented through the animated greenery of broad leaves, thin wild grasses, and seed to plant states. For the sound she blended electronic tones, sound FX, and melodic processed guitar with indigenous music from Africa. Gaia’s rainbow colors and multiple states represent inclusiveness, the plurality of women all over the world and the spectrum of light. As Gaia in the Metaverse, she connects both the physical and digital realms as a celebration of womanhood, the environment, and the brave new digital world of the Metaverse and the 21st century.
