Cables are a conductor or group of conductors that transmit electrical energy or telecommunication signals from one location to another.

Tree roots function as cables and because of the interconnectedness through the mycelium networks they are able to exchange information, water, and energy with each other, effectively connecting the entire forest as a whole and working like some sort of advanced intelligence circuit board. Within forests, the strongest trees can act as "mother trees". They share their energy with younger trees through their roots and the interconnected mycelium network, thereby aiding in the survival and growth of a forest.
